Power of Philanthropy Reception
Wednesday, May 16, 2018
32 Front Street, Hartford
Join us for an evening of networking, good food, drinks and a conversation about the role of philanthropy in our community.
Featuring Community Activist and Author,
Carrie Firestone is the co-founder of ForwardCT, an organization aimed at promoting civic engagement. A former New York City high school teacher, she moved to Connecticut where her passion for community service led her to spearhead service projects including Project Housewarming, an effort to provide furniture and housewares for Puerto Rican families displaced by Hurricane Maria. Most recently, Carrie launched The Unlikelies Challenge, a contest that awards grants to teens with promising community service project ideas. In addition to her service work, Carrie is a published author who writes young adult novels.
Proceeds from this event will help the Aurora Foundation’s work to be a catalyst for positive change in the lives of women and girls in Greater Hartford.
